Samhita Sunya, associate professor of cinema at the University of Virginia, is receiving an honorable mention for her book Sirens of Modernity: World Cinema via Bombay, published by the University of California Press. The prize is awarded annually for an outstanding scholarly work in South Asian or South Asian diaspora literary or linguistic studies.
