UVa students can study (and even complete their College Language Requirement in) Turkish. While MESALC does not currently offer in-person courses for Turkish, we do participate in the Consortium for Less-Commonly Taught Languages, which allows UVa students to enroll in remotely-taught Turkish courses from beginning to advanced levels.

The courses are taught in-person at Duke University by Professor Didem Havlioglu through their Middle East Studies Center.
Students interested in using Turkish to satisfy their Language Requirement should check SIS listings, consult with the UVa liaison for Turkish language studies, and plan their schedules carefully because Beginning Turkish classes are not currently offered every year.
