UVA in Morocco: Arabic Language

Arab American Language Institute in Morocco

Complete a year's worth of Arabic in 8 weeks!

Complete a year's worth of Arabic in 8 weeks, or one semester in 4 weeks! Based at AALIM, the Arab American Language Institute in Morocco, participants enroll in Arabic Language and Colloquial Arabic, taking classes alongside students from around the world.

At the crossroads of civilizations and continents, Morocco is located in the North West corner of Africa. The country is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea on its northern coast, and the Atlantic Ocean on the western coast and the Sahara desert to the south. The port city of Tangier, only 9 miles from Europe, faces the southern most point of Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar.

This program is located in Meknes, one of the imperial cities of Morocco. Students have access to a range of activities, including cooking and craft events, tours of historic Meknes, and language partnerships. One day trip per four-week term is also included, to a nearby site or city of interest such as the Roman ruins of Volubilis, Fes, or Rabat.

Accommodation and Meals
Students will be housed with a host family close to AALIM. Breakfast and dinner are provided Monday through Friday, as well on weekends. Family homestays are arranged for weekends when there aren't other planned excursions.
